Volunteer Spotlight: Richard Leger

This National Volunteer Week, we are taking a moment to highlight a few of the caring and talented volunteers who give selflessly to create a stronger community. Their drive and dedication serves as an inspiration to those they impact, as well as those who can follow their example. We asked what drives them to volunteer for United Way, and the importance of sharing their talent.

“Volunteering in itself has always been a rewarding experience, however my favorite part is working with a diverse group of community members who all have the same passion around making our community better for everyone.

One of my favorite volunteer moments was working at the YMCA with my CenterPoint Energy colleagues during United Way’s Day of Caring. There is no better way to connect personally than serving alongside one another to accomplish a mission.

United Way has a good pulse on the community and is actively working to address poverty. Its critical for the success of our community that we all pull our resources, whether that be time, talent, and/or treasure, in order to collaboratively effect change!”

MORNING FLIGHT GOLFERS: We are still on for this morning. The ECC and UWSWI staff will monitor the weather for lightning and will make a call as soon as possible. We may have a delay.
