What Does It Mean to LIVE UNITED?

It starts with recognizing that we’re all in this together, and then acting on that knowledge. We all have a stake in creating a healthy, prosperous community.

How does United Way make change happen in a community?

We :

  • Listen to our community to learn what challenges people care most about, and what ideas they have to make things better
  • Work together to figure out the strategies that have the best chance of solving our toughest problems
  • Turn those strategies into initiatives that people want to invest in, with their money, time and expertise
  • Use those resources wisely to achieve our challenging goals

Join us. Become educated on the systemic, historic, and structural barriers that contribute to limited opportunities for upward mobility. Serve. Or give to help others build a pathway to reach their potential.

That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.

ADVOCATE

Speak up for a better tomorrow

We simply can’t do this without you. It doesn’t take much time to make a big difference for the United Way and our community! Here are a few ways you can help:

Make your voice heard on issues

Big, challenging societal issues demand a holistic approach to change systems and structures. Silence and inaction changes nothing. Make your voice heard to legislators through Indiana United Way’s VoterVoice Action Center.

Seek to understand, then help stop misinformation

Diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice are front and center in the media. Reactions and opinions abound. Seek first to understand and be educated before forming an opinion. Invite affected groups to the table for discussion and help stop the spread of bias and misinformation in its tracks.

Be a Social Media Influencer

Follow us and share our posts when you see them. Just a click can make a big difference in spreading awareness of all the good we’re doing in Southwestern Indiana.
