A United Way workplace campaign is an engaging, time-tested way for everyone in your organization to rally in support of our community. Both easy and effective, workplace giving is a significant element of our campaign and shows employees their workplace actively supports our community’s most critical issues. Employee campaigns are a great opportunity to engage employees, build a spirit of teamwork, and increase morale all while making an impact on the community.

Employees are given an opportunity to support United Way by donating through convenient payroll deduction or a direct gift. Whether you’re a small business, major corporation, or even a nonprofit, you can join the many local businesses and organizations that run workplace campaigns each year.

Ready to start a campaign? Contact Tina Reed at 812-421-7479.

There’s a better way, a United Way, that helps all people thrive.

United Way is focusing its efforts into empowering individuals and families with resources to improve their economic situation, which improves their lives and the lives of our next generation.

When you give to United Way of Southwestern Indiana, the power of your dollar is amplified. It transforms into the support people need to move forward and reach their goals.

How are we doing it?
• Helping people get living-wage jobs and eliminating barriers to maintaining them
• Improving access to mental health care
• Ensuring kids have the academic and emotional skills they need to thrive
• Strengthening relationships and building connections that offer growth opportunities

United Way is a powerful and efficient way for your employees to make a difference and it’s easy. Payroll deduction or a one-time gift is a simple and convenient way to change a life for the better. The impact is multiplied as all these individual acts of generosity are brought together to create transformational change for so many.

Tips for a Great Campaign

Recruit a Committee

  • Don’t go it alone. Recruiting a committee of fun, enthusiastic team members with a love of our community will not only help spread the workload, but will bring fresh ideas to the campaign.
  • Set a regular meeting schedule and make sure everyone is familiar with the campaign, the new Pathways, and your company’s goals.

Prepare the Plan

  • Determine timing, your company message, and decide on incentives (if any).
  • Work with the United Way Director of Development to set dates, online giving options, and UW presentation opportunities.

Make it Fun

  • Use the campaign as an opportunity to build fun, engaging activities into the workday.
  • Creative campaign activities include: chili cookoffs, cornhole, water pong, pie-in-the-face, silent auctions, department challenges, scavenger hunts, eating contests, trivia contests, BINGO, cash-for-casual days…. you can make it a blast to support United Way.
  • Capitalize on volunteer opportunities to inspire employees.

Promote, Promote, Promote

  • Utilize the tools in the campaign toolkit to promote your campaign in various ways. Graphics, emails, and videos are available to support your campaign communication efforts.
  • Recruit your company leadership to encourage and inspire support of the campaign.

Stay In-the-Know

  • Refer to your Employee Campaign Champion Guide for detailed information about the United Way, our Pathways, and campaign.
