The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program offers free tax preparation and e-filing services to individuals and families making $70,000 or less, persons with disabilities, those older than 60 years of age, and people who are limited English speaking.

VITA tax preparers are certified by the IRS to ensure that clients receive all eligible Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) and Child Tax Credits. In addition, clients save money by not having to pay fees associated with tax preparation. Through the VITA program, we help hard-working individuals and families in our community take advantage of their tax dollars and reinvest their returns back into Southwestern Indiana.

During the 2026 tax season, our volunteers prepared over 1000 tax returns and recovered more than $1 million in refunds for local people. Those dollars go back into our community and support local businesses and service providers.

Through the VITA program, we help individuals and families in our community correctly file their tax returns and collect any overpayment due to them. This free service also saves them from paying tax preparation fees which average $275 per tax return in our region.
